Match Report, Tamworth Away

Match Report for Tamworth Away

We lost the toss here and were put into bat by Tamworth. We felt that this could have worked in our favour but only if we put substantial runs on the board.

Amun Samra and Vikul Lal started sensibly with no risks being taken. We saw the new ball off but both players will be disappointed not to have gone on and get a big score. This was the story through the innings for us. We had contributions from many of the players but none that would win us a game or at least put us in a position to defend our total. Our total of 205 was probably around 50 runs below par for the wicket and outfield that we encountered.

We still felt that we could steal a win from this game at the half way point but unfortunately Stuart Burrows and Jack Manuel were in good form for Tamworth, and took the game away from us with some very good batting. One big positive for us was Richard Brooker’s finishing spell which saw him claim 3 wickets. Tamworth knocked the runs off with relative ease 6 wickets down.

We all know we can improve on this performance and I am sure we will as we have a talented group of cricketers who want to improve. We show little glimpses of how good we could be but have not shown this for a sustained period thus far. That is our main target from now on. Today’s fixture is against Aston Manor, who have a talented side themselves and so it should make for an exciting game.
