Weekend Match Report

Our good start to the 2013 season continues, five teams played and four won! Well done to all five teams. Our first team played hosts to Evesham Cricket Club from Worcestershire. We won the toss and decided to bowl first.

We started in confident mood and bowled with good control. Brian Kulasena and Samuel Doggett made it very difficult for the Evesham batsmen early on. Then the experienced Robert Pearce bowled with control and picked up 4 for 15 runs off his 10 overs! We welcomed Richard Brooker back for this game and he showed his qualities by taking 4 for 26 off 9.3 overs. All four bowlers are showing good early season form. Evesham finished on 108 all out after 37.3 overs. Probably 30 more than they should have been allowed to get if we are being tough on ourselves!

Amun Samra again showed that he can see off the new ball at this level but will be disappointed not to have carried on past his score of 17. It was the first time we have seen Matt Badhams bat in a league game for Penn CC, he played some excellent shots and is getting better with each match that he plays. We finished on 112 for 3 of 26.3 overs and got another 20 points for the club.

We now turn our attentions to Worcester Nomads away, who got promoted from the Worcestershire league last season. We will have to continue to show good application to get a positive result and we are confident we can do that.
